Scotland’s Darren Burnett made sporting history in sunny Clevedon becoming the first bowler to hold both British Isles outdoors and indoor singles titles at the same time.
The 29-year-old Arbroath policeman confirmed his status as one of the dominant forces in UK bowls by defeating England’s Simon Jee 21-10 in the final having earlier seen off the challenge of Commonwealth Games silver medallist Robert Weale of Wales 21-16 in the prelim, before ending Irish title-holder Martin McHugh’s hopes ...

Principality aces adapt best to horrendous weather conditions at Ayr Northfield
to triumph in the Home International series for the first time in six years

Widespread sunshine from early June through to the end of July saw record temperatures around the country, but Scotland set its very own record of a miserable midsummer high of 10°C which saw gale force winds and driving rain almost drown-out the Women’s Home Internationals at Ayr Northfield.
The series started brightly enough, with defending champions Scotland sitting out the opening match and getting the opportunity to size-up their opponents and the outcome ran true to form with England crushing Ireland and Wales doing the same to Jersey.

Ireland make sporting history at Wigton Bowling Club in Cumbria as they successfully retain the Men’s Home International Series title for the first ever time in their history... by Ron Wyllie

Ireland won the Men’s Home Internationals for the second year on the spin, and for only the fifth time in the history of the event, in a series which proved to be one of the most exciting in years with all four competing nations still in contention when day three dawned with only four points separating them.

Channel Islanders claim two of the four titles up for grabs in exciting finals at Northfield with Katrina Bisson a long-overdue and very popular singles winner... by Anne Dunwoodie
Top honours in this year’s Women’s British Isles Championships hosted by Scotland, at the National Centre of Excellence at Ayr Northfield, went to Jersey who claimed two of the four titles, with England and Scotland taking one apiece.
Jersey won both finals they contested, with England playing three, Scotland two and Wales made it to one. Despite making it to the semi-finals of the fours and triples, Ireland failed to mount any final challenge.

Scottish policeman needs just one more win to emulate bowls legend
Scotland’s Darren Burnett closed in on the legendary David Bryant’s record of four British Isles indoor singles titles by winning for a third time in Llanelli.
The 28-year-old Arbroath police officer became only the third bowler, after Andy Thomson (1991/1992) and Jonathan Ross (2002/2003), to successfully defend his crown when he defeated Thomson 21-15 in the final.

Llanelli triumph is their first success in the Home International Series since 2003

England regained the Hilton Trophy for the first time since 2003 when they won an exciting Home International Series in Llanelli, the result of which was in doubt until the last bowl of the three days action.
Indeed, no fewer than three of the four countries finished the series with two wins out of three matches and four points ensuring that shots difference would determine the destination of the title.

Nick snatches title in tie-break drama
|
Guernsey ace walks away with Men’s Singles title after nailbiting final with young pretender
Guernsey’s Nick Donaldson captured the WIBC Men’s Singles title in Belfast defeating Scotland’s Andrew Barker 8-3, 4-9, 2-0 in the final.
The Channel Islander dominated
the opening exchanges before his 18-year-old opponent from Elgin settled and counted a maximum four shots on the sixth end of the second set to go 6-4 in front. Barker then added a double and a single to level matters and force the match tiebreaker. However, Donaldson scored on each of the first two ends to clinch victory.
