Despite a weekend of terrible weather, newcomers still braved the rain and cold in what turned out to be a great success for the club. With some 17 potential new bowlers showing an interest joining the club, the clubs hosted the 2 day event with other members and coaches on hand to offer help and advise on getting started in the game.
Whilst the open day was a great success for the club, unfortunately this success didn’t translate into a good week for the club in their two friendly fixtures. Returning empty handed from their visits to Sidmouth and Seaton and suffering defeats at both games.
If you missed out on the open day and would still like to get involved, then Friday club nights at Ottery is still a great way to try your hand at bowls, just head on down to the from 6pm, where coaching and guidance will be available to any and all newcomers. Just be sure to wear flat soled shoes or trainers to gain access to the green.
